Alcohol Service
Options Counselling, in partnership with the Primary Care Trust and Southampton City Council offer free one to one alcohol counselling with experienced and skilled specialist, addictions counsellors for residents in the Southampton post code areas SO14-SO19. This service is available to individuals and to their spouses, partners and families.
Options create a non-judgemental and nurturing environment and give you time to address your drinking and its affects. The counselling programme will help you to consider a number of matters including:
- Alcohol awareness and function
- The role and function of alcohol in your life
- Physical, social and emotional effects
- Triggers and compulsions
- Goal setting
- Tips for cutting down or stopping
- Making and maintaining change
- Lapse and relapse prevention
Clients will be offered an assessment appointment to ascertain the level of support required. This can range from advice and information, short term intervention, counselling, general support, referral for detoxification or rehabilitation programmes.
